Beijing 2008Travel Advice and Bulletin for Beijing 2008 Olympic and Paralympic Games
The Olympic Games will be held from 8 to 24 August 2008 and the Paralympic Games from 6 to 17 September 2008.
Most events will be held in the capital city, Beijing. Regional centres will host some events: City of Qingdao (sailing); Hong Kong (equestrian); Tianjin, Shanghai, Shenyang and Qinhuangdao.

HEALTH
The standard of medical care and range of familiar medications may often be limited. Hospitals and doctors may require cash payment. Medical evacuations are very expensive.
BEFORE GOING: get comprehensive travel insurance to cover medical and other costs.
PASSPORT AND VISA
Make sure you have the necessary visa(s) and your passport has a minimum of six months validity – even if you only intend to stay for a few days. Always carry your passport with you as random checks may be conducted by police.
China dies not recognise dual nationality. If you are an Australian/Chinese dual national you should travel on your Australian passport or we may not be able to provide you with consular services.
Visa conditions are subject to change. For up-to-date visa information, Australians should contact the nearest Chinese mission well in advance of travel.
REMEMBER: a visa does not guarantee an entry to another country.
